Liverpool are not sharp enough without Mo Salah or Roberto Firmino - the lack of cutting-edge depth is concerning

Jurgen Klopp will be seriously concerned by Liverpool’s lack of cutting-edge depth ahead of Tuesday’s season-defining clash with Manchester City.

Without Mo Salah or Roberto Firmino, Liverpool were nowhere near sharp enough in the final third of the pitch.

In fact, they were about as sharp as a Primark suit. It is, though, understandable.

Danny Ings and Dominic Solanke have had hardly any game time this season, and have never really played together, certainly not in a game with this intensity.

It was always going to be a big ask for them to reproduce Liverpool’s first-choice counter-attacking verve.

Yet Klopp knows this lack of options is a real worry. All the top teams have strength in depth up front – I sometimes think Jose Mourinho at Manchester United is collecting forwards for his World Cup sticker album!

Liverpool have a front three... and then nothing too obvious beyond that, with both Divock Origi and Daniel Sturridge out on loan.

Obviously, Salah will be the key on Tuesday in the quarter-final second leg.

If he’s fit, then that is a massive weapon. If he’s not, then we saw in the derby how Klopp’s team will struggle to find any pace or penetration on the break.

I’m not getting carried away about the lack of quality in this contest though.

For a start, Everton were given a bit of a humiliating lesson at home last Saturday. The last thing Big Sam could do was risk getting turned over again.

In the first half, they sat deep and seemed content to chase the ball around a bit, making sure they didn’t allow any space for the counter-attack that Klopp’s men produced so effectively against City. แทง บอล ออนไลน์

It worked in the sense that at least Allardyce’s team clung on in the game, and actually had the moments at the end to win it.

He was always going to keep it as tight as possible, stay in the game as long as possible, and then try to snatch something in the final few minutes when Liverpool tired and brought on their subs with an eye to Tuesday.

That’s exactly how it panned out, and I reckon the City scouts watching will have noticed how the Liverpool defence seemed to get a little flustered under pressure at the end here.

Then again, scouting reports are not entirely valid when you have a centre-half making his first start since January – at left-back. I think that Ragnar Klavan did pretty well in those circumstances.

Of more interest to the City scouts was the way Klopp used Georginio Wijnaldum at the base of his midfield in the holding role, because Jordan Henderson is suspended for Tuesday, and Emre Can injured.

I thought Wijnaldum did well. Perhaps he took a few risks that come more naturally to attacking midfielders, but he looks athletic and physical in that position, and that could be a big attribute against City. แทง บอล ออนไลน์

Juventus 0-1 Napoli: Late Kalidou Koulibaly header puts visitors back in title race

wwwpic5678 Kalidou Koulibaly headed Napoli back into the Serie A title race with a dramatic last-minute goal to down leaders Juventus 1-0 at Allianz Stadium. The Senegalese defender left it desperately late to score the goal that fired Napoli to within a single point of reigning champions Juve ahead of the last four games of the season.

Massimiliano Allegri's side face a trickier run-in, too, with Champions League hopefuls Inter Milan and Roma providing league opposition in the next few weeks, while there is also the distraction of a Coppa Italia final against AC Milan. Napoli will hope to capitalise on any slip-up by their title rivals when they tackle Fiorentina, Torino, Sampdoria and Crotone across their remaining fixtures.

Juve needed steel in defence to nullify Napoli's forward line but a key figure was removed from the back three early on when Giorgio Chiellini suffered an injury during a clash with Lorenzo Insigne. Stephan Lichtsteiner replaced him and despite the disappointment of the enforced change to the game plan, Juve came close to scoring with a little over a quarter of an hour on the clock in Turin.

Bosnian schemer Miralem Pjanic rattled the far post with a free-kick after Raul Albiol had fouled Gonzalo Higuain and the touchpaper had been lit. Napoli soon found channels to run into given the modified Juve set-up and in the 21st minute Mario Rui let loose a twisting drive that Gianluigi Buffon did well to palm over the crossbar. wwwpic5678

Another raid down the left allowed Mario Rui to set up his captain Marek Hamsik, who grimaced after dragging his shot across Buffon's goalmouth and wide of the far post. Napoli had the ball in the back of the net as half-time approached, Insigne prodding home only for referee Gianluca Rocchi to rule that the Italy striker had been offside.

Allegri surprised many when he withdrew Paulo Dybala for Juan Cuadrado at the break, not only removing the X-factor of the Argentinian forward from the pitch but leaving himself with just one more substitute. And with Napoli making up consistent ground in the Juve half as the second period progressed, the boss rolled the dice and threw Mario Mandzukic into the fray when there were 20 minutes remaining.

Pjanic made it his business to try and pick out the tall Croatian with his pinpoint free-kicks - one in particular caused chaos in the Napoli box. But the visitors were unruffled and roamed forward to test Buffon with a sighter from Piotr Zielinski. Juve failed to heed the warning and in the 89th minute the unthinkable happened. Increasing pressure resulted in a Napoli corner and, when Jose Callejon swung it in, Koulibaly strode forward before leaping and powering home an historic goal with his head. wwwpic5678
